Anthony Wu, LMHC
Life can feel overwhelming, especially when it seems like no one truly understands what you’re carrying. While I may not have lived your exact experiences, I am committed to listening closely, honoring your story, and doing the work alongside you. My goal is to create a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where we can take this journey together—one small step at a time. I work with adolescents and adults navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, academic and work stress, perfectionism, self-doubt, and identity-related challenges. Growing up in an immigrant Chinese household shaped my understanding of cultural values, intergenerational conflict, bicultural identity, and the realities of racism. These experiences inform my approach and allow me to support clients who are balancing multiple worlds, navigating family expectations, or struggling to feel understood.
My therapeutic style is relational, supportive, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you build concrete skills for managing emotions, reducing distress, and creating healthier patterns in your life. When helpful, I also incorporate creative approaches—such as music—to deepen connection and explore emotions in meaningful ways. At New Generation Mental Health Counseling (NGMHC), I am dedicated to helping you heal, grow, and regain a sense of control. You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. Together, we can work toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-acceptance.
If you’re looking for a therapist in New York who understands anxiety, cultural identity concerns, and the pressures of high expectations, I would be honored to support you.
